About 6 months ago I had my first run-in with the Monat hair product line. I was at my best friend’s house for a get together. One of her friends from work arrived a little while later. Right when she walked in I noticed her hair, but I didn’t want to bring attention to myself by asking her about it.
Apparently I wasn’t the only one who noticed. About a half hour later, my best friend, who has no shame in bringing attention to herself, said “Dang girl! Your hair looks amazing!” Her friend then began telling her about the product line she uses called Monat. I listened to her and was impressed. However, the party ended, and days went by. I then forgot all about it.
It wasn’t until a couple months later that I was re-introduced. My sister-in-law, who had been suffering from postpartum hair loss, posted on Facebook before and after photos of her time with Monat. I couldn’t believe it when she said that it was the same Monat product line that the other girl with amazing hair was talking about. Having been self-conscious about my hair for years for various reasons (dry, dull, never-ending split ends), I decided it was time to make a change. That was when I started my research. After reading countless Monat reviews, I decided to try it out for myself.
One wash. One simple wash with Monat, and I was hooked. I couldn’t believe the difference! For this particular wash I used Renew shampoo, Revitalize conditioner, and Rejuvabeads. My sister took the before and after of me, and I think the pictures speak for themselves! I would never have left the house without at least straightening my hair before. Now, I feel confident going out in public without doing anything extra to my hair. That excites me, because I don’t have to damage my hair more with heat!
I have now been using the hair products for around 4 months and here are some things that I have noticed about my hair:
- My hair is softer and shinier than ever
- I don’t have to spend an obnoxious amount of time trying to de-tangle my hair after a shower
- My hair is thicker and has way more volume
- I don’t shed like crazy anymore and have less split ends
- My hair is less frizzy!
- It smells AMAZING
- The last bonus, which is extremely important to me, is that it is cruelty free and doesn’t use a bunch of harsh chemicals! Oh, and it’s also made in the USA!
Although I couldn’t put it in my personal Monat review, since I am not yet a mama, but I feel the need to tell women about the reasoning behind new moms going crazy over Monat! Two words: Capixyl and Procataline. One thing that a lot of new moms don’t know, is that postpartum hair loss is incredibly common. Well, these two ingredients fight back! Without going full science nerd on you all, Capixyl is a key ingredient in Monat products. It works by cutting down scalp inflammation. By doing this, it stimulates natural hair growth. It also thickens and strengthens your hair. Procataline, another key ingredient, fights premature hair thinning. Like capixyl, it boosts hair growth. It also protects color and shine. The picture below is my sister-in-law’s before and after of only 16 days on Monat!
The bonus part is, men can benefit too! Ever looked at your man and noticed that his hairline has receded a little (or a lot)? Or maybe his hair is thinning out more and more everyday? Men all over the country have been trying Monat to grow their hair back and it’s working.
That’s not all that men are loving about Monat. They also have a treatment system dedicated entirely to them (or so they think!). It’s called the Monat Black system, and it’s as sexy as it sounds. Now, men might think this is all for them, but not if I have a say in it! Over the past few months of testing out these products, I’ve learned a few tricks of the trade, and I’ve fallen in love with the Black system. Personally, I LOVE to use the men’s aftershave as a moisturizer AND as a makeup primer! The best part is I get to pretend I’m buying it for my boyfriend when in reality it’s for me! Total win, win!
Since I’m almost done ranting about shampoo and conditioner, I HAVE to throw in that there is an adorable jr line! This line is complete with shampoo, conditioner, and detangler that is specifically formulated for the finer and fragile hair that kiddos have. This line is safe and gentle for the mini’s in your life with no harmful colors, fragrances, or chemicals!
And finally, on to the other, yet just as fun, products! Monat has products for just about anybody… I’ll list my favorite goodies and tell ya’ll exactly why I love them so much!
1) Rejuvabeads
As I said in the beginning, I had HORRIBLE split ends. For me, this stuff basically eliminates the split ends!
2) Rejuvenique
I love this oil for two reasons, it moisturizes my scalp AND face! I’ve always had dry skin and scalp, so this stuff is a double whammy for me!
3) Eye Wonder Lash and Brow Enhancing Serum
Plain and simple, it makes my lashes look AMAZING! They’re longer and shinier without the makeup!
4) Blow Out Cream
I use this before styling my hair and it makes my hair silky and shiny!
5) The Champ dry shampoo
Dry shampoo… It’s the best! Need I say more?
Those being my favorite, I still LOVE the other products. You’ll just have to check them out for yourself! Like the hairspray… to die for! Finally, a hairspray that doesn’t leave a product-feel to my hair!
Ok so you’ve read my testimonials on the product-line. There are hundreds of reviews that say similar things as what you’ve just read.
My biggest complaint? I don’t really have any major complaints about Monat, but if I had to choose one it would be… The price. Hands down. What else would there be to complain about the amazing product line?
However, the best part is that these products are the real deal. So yeah, it’s pricier than what you might be used to, but you buy it once and it lasts so long! You don’t need a huge glob of conditioner like the $5 store-bought brand. I bought my shampoo and conditioner four months ago and it’s still not gone!
What does Monat do for your hair? I think the results speak for themselves…

Update March 2018: It has now been right around a year since I first started using Monat, and 8 months since I originally wrote this post. I’ve since seen some bad monat reviews out there that are negative, but that simply is not my personal experience with them or the experiences of my family and friends. Everyone I personally know who uses the monat hair products love them and have nothing but great things to say. As with any product or service, I’m sure there are some people who haven’t had positive experiences with them, but in my opinion the Monat shampoo and other products are still the best things that have ever happened to my hair!
Update May 2018: Everything posted above is my 100% honest and unbiased review of Monat. I do not sell it and never have. I do recommend it all the time and will continue to do so, but I am not a market partner, and have no intentions to become one. I don’t know why everyone thinks my post above has strings attached, but I assure you, it doesn’t! It is real, honest, legit, unbiased, and I gain nothing from taking the time to write it. Believe me or not, I truly don’t care! Haters always try to justify their negativity, but I’m really not wasting my time on that anymore. This is MY monat review and it is what it is!
Update July 2020: It has been a little over 2 years since my last update. So, I wanted to jump in here real quick to let you know that I’m still using Monat and still loving it! Their hair products are undoubtedly the best – in my opinion – and the results are amazing. If you are on the fence about it, I highly recommend you go for it. My review has not changed — it is still 100% positive!
Update April 2021: Another 9 months has already flown by since my last update. Where does the time go?! Really not much new to report with my monat experience. I’m still using them with amazing results. Lots of new products have come out since my original post and many have become quite popular. I mostly stick to a few basics though I’ve tried pretty much all of their products at this point and liked the vast majority of them.
Update January 2022: Still loving Monat. My positive review and full recommendation has not changed a bit. Even more new products that are great – although, as I said in my last update, I tend to stick with the items that I have always used & have served me well (yes, I’m boring).
